From Young Hearts and Close to Paris Is Burning - peep the Top 10 streaming on various platforms right now.

Alongside the most popular LGBTQ+ films list, we put together a watch list of critically acclaimed queer films worth catching this summer - and every one is free to stream in the US right now. 

A few favourites:

  • Young Hearts (2024) – a feel-good Belgian coming-of-age story, 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, that took home awards at both Frameline and NewFest.

  • Close (2022) – Lukas Dhont's Cannes Grand Prix winner and Oscar nominee. The prestige one. (Fun fact: Dhont co-wrote Young Hearts too.)

  • Chestnut (2023) – an indie love triangle with Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things. A bi story that, refreshingly, isn't about coming out.

  • A Friend of Dorothy (2025) – this year's Oscar-nominated short, with Miriam Margolyes and Stephen Fry. Lovely and very shareable.

  • But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) – the Natasha Lyonne cult classic, if you want something with a bit of history.
