A few favourites:
Young Hearts (2024) – a feel-good Belgian coming-of-age story, 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, that took home awards at both Frameline and NewFest.
Close (2022) – Lukas Dhont's Cannes Grand Prix winner and Oscar nominee. The prestige one. (Fun fact: Dhont co-wrote Young Hearts too.)
Chestnut (2023) – an indie love triangle with Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things. A bi story that, refreshingly, isn't about coming out.
A Friend of Dorothy (2025) – this year's Oscar-nominated short, with Miriam Margolyes and Stephen Fry. Lovely and very shareable.
But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) – the Natasha Lyonne cult classic, if you want something with a bit of history.
