Whether it’s his fire visuals or the freestyles he’s delivering in better conditions than FedEx and UPS on their best days, the witty lyrical musician has more eyes taking notice of his grind - plus with a highly-anticipated Nonsense and Mexican Sh*t EP album set to drop later this month, there’s even more reasons to get up on his wave.
With promoting his new studio effort, juggling a busy schedule and trying to find time to complete Saints Row missions, That Mexican OT secured time to chop it up with Attack The Culture and the chop up session is more than just memorable.

So all day Saints Row over GTA or are those just two different universes like DC Comics and Marvel?
That Mexican OT: I’m gonna definitely put Saints Row over GTA.
Get outta here? I don’t think people understand just how dope of a franchise Saints Row is. Especially when you get remastered and all that. That’s such a legendary franchise that gets slept on, I think in one of your interviews you talked about there being dope hip-hop references to it, I think you were talking about Beanie Sigel had contributed something.
That Mexican OT: It’s just everything about it. I remember the first and the second one, just the storyline and how it came in. Everything down to the characters. The name of the gangs. Where it was based out of. The music they were jamming. Everything about it was just top tier and I just fell in love with the whole game overall.
You’ve got to talk about the Curren$y collaboration on your song ‘September 8’ from the new album. Was that some label type stuff, some Southern type of love, how did you and Curren$y get together?
That Mexican OT: My man Greg lined us up with Fee Banks and he’s really good friends with him. It was really off the love and off the strength from Fee showing love. He was like, ‘Yo, I got this dude. He’s really hot. I think you should fuck with him.’ Curren$y being the cool as motherfucker that he is, he could have easily been like ‘Nah,’ but he came correct on it too.
He blessed it definitely. I would just say it was off the love. Definitely.
You can tell he still has those kid things. I remember when we went to the car show they were all over there playing with their toy cars and fucking hitting switches and having competitions. It was cool.
It’s shit me and my boys do. It’s cool to see him like that and be cool like that. Just cool as fuck. It was an hour meeting him.
I gotta imagine you’ve gotta be super particular when it comes working with others. Of course I mentioned ‘September 8’ but collaborating overall?
That Mexican OT: Yeah, I really don’t like doing features with nobody unless it’s like my team. But the reason why I’m like that is because I know I can do it. I can come from every angle on this song and keep you entertained. I just have that ability. I was blessed with that.
The only reason I would do features is for my fans. Because they deserve things like that. They work hard for me. If they want it, I’m going to give it to them. Everybody wants to see me Peso and DeeBaby. I think they’re both harder than a bitch.
I feel like we can definitely do something. They want to see me do music with like Swifty Blue - there’s a lot of hard ass Cali rappers too. There’s Mexicans over the US that are hard but Texas? I feel like we’re really standing out for sure for sure.
I’ll definitely work with them. Whatever they want, I’m going to give it to them.
OT, you’ve gotta talk about the love of freestyling. That’s a gift that a lot of people either have it or don’t have it. I love Drake but with Team Lightskin, we’ve taken a few L’s because he’s had to rap off the phone before. I know you’re very genuine about it. We just know you’re super witty with the wordplay. Freestyles, is that just something you’ve had in the arsenal?
That Mexican OT: I like freestyling. It’s cool when I’m fucked up with my boys but for the most part, I grew up idolizing everything from the East Coast and Detroit, I love Michigan, fucking everything in New York and all of them would write that shit down and master it and master it.
They would master it so well they could deliver it many different ways and go to the block and beat them up with that. So rapping and freestyling is fun but I like mastering and performing.
I’m a showman. My music’s not even meant to be recorded. It’s meant to be recorded. I was just blessed with that. I’m a bad motherfucker when it comes to that.
