Following widespread acclaim and one accolade after another this year, Atlanta-born R&B luminary Chase Shakur re-ups, recharges, and reignites his full-length debut album, WONDERLOVE, with an expanded Deluxe Edition out now. The new material showcases the scope of his vision. Among many highlights, “hide & seek” layers airy vocals into the fabric of lush strings. He alternates between sensitive verses and a soaring hook, going on to urge, “Gotta open up for me. Elsewhere, “decatur baby” doubles as a de facto hometown anthem for Shakur. Just above the soundscape, a synth loop shimmers, the slick drums pulsate, and his blissful vocals captivate. Teeming with anticipation, he confesses, “Every time I see you girl, I can’t contain it.” Then, there’s “i’m ready.This time around, he teams up with German-Nigerian phenomenon ODEAL. Together, their voices naturally volley back and forth, culminating on another hypnotic hook. Finally, “where da luv” teams Shakur with Girlfriend. Their chemistry powers the track, and Shakur’s vocals ripple through the hazy production. While flexing his range, he poses a question, “Girl you know I gotta ask, where da luv?
 
This is WONDERLOVE at its most otherworldly, and this is Shakur at his most undeniable.
