This ballad exudes the unapologetic honesty audiences have to come not only expect, but also fervently cherish from the songstress. This time around, she dips her toes into new love, while processing the aftershocks of her toxic prior relationship. In between sparse production, she makes a candid confession, “My last relationship was fucking crazy, and that’s why I’m so scared right now to say, ‘I love you, baby’.” The momentum accelerates, and the drums carry a chantable chorus, “Every time you give me kisses, I feel like I’m the richest.” No one spills emotion and truth on a track quite like she does.
“Over the last year, I learned wealth looks different than I thought…I’d like to share with you everything I gained when I stopped measuring my life by what I lost.” - Muni Long
“Richest” serves as her first solo release of 2026, last year, she dropped the relatable fan favorite “Delulu.” Within the last two years, she took home a 2023 GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best R&B Performance” for “Hrs & Hrs” and another “Best R&B Performance” GRAMMY® Award in 2025 for “Made for Me (Live on BET).” During the most recent ceremony, she stood out as the “most-nominated artist in the R&B genre” with a total of four nods in key categories. Back in April, she transformed the desert into her very own world with an unforgettable Coachella debut summed up succinctly by ELLE who raved, “Long’s performance and wardrobe were divine.” 2025 also saw her drop “Slow Grind,” which garnered millions of stream and praise from critics alike.
Of course, her epic 2024 album, Revenge, kickstarted this entire season, tallying nearly a billion streams, housing the multiplatinum “Made for Me,” and earning unanimous acclaim. Associated Press noted, “As R&B has experienced a mainstream resurgence, Long is recognized as one of the genre’s flagbearers fueling its comeback.” Billboard raved, “From start to finish, Revengebrims with frank, raw emotion and relatable scenarios.”
