SiriusXM: Drake’s Sound 42 station going away has me ready to cancel
Blame it on Howard Stern because outside of the iconic media legend, there’s zip-zero reason for me to hold onto my SiriusXM subscription much longer with my twin Drake’s OVO Sound 42 station fading to black.
SiriusXM’s Sound 42 going away has me hurting right now
I love all things Stern but outside of those live broadcasts, my need for the Sound 42 anthems to play throughout my entire day? Crushing. The four-year run coming to a sudden end? Super gut-wrenching. Radio Insight coming through with the deets? Say less.
Four years to the day of its launch, the Drake curated “Sound 42” has come to an end on Sirius XM.
The channel had launched in March 2021 as part of a deal reached between the artist and SiriusXM in 2019 that at the time was called “the largest agreement it and subsidiary Pandora have executed with a major recording artist”. That deal included the channel, curated music and collaborations with Drake and other creative talent.
Channel 42 is now branded as “SiriusXM 42” and is currently running “Hip-Hop Chronicles” with “rap’s biggest 500 tracks of all time”.
