The Game: The West Coast rap heavyweight reflects on putting out another classic with The Documentary III
You really have to respect how much The Game puts into the craft. Always heartfelt and emotional about his passion for music-making - it’s all about reflecting on the reality of putting out a jam-packed The Documentary 3 album to the masses in 2026.
The Game is geeking out over his The Documentary 3 album
More than just a few emojis or a repost - Jayceon Taylor relied on the power of his Instagram page heading into the week with deep words about his newest solo effort.
Just wanted to say… the last week of my life has been amazing to say the least, so I wanted to start my day off with gratitude & thank every last person who supported this album when it dropped.
Without you, the music could not live.
I’ve always prided myself on putting together full projects.. sequencing them in a way that it would be very difficult to skip through on 1st listen.
It’s always been the art of creating classic music that has a timeless feel that challenges me in ways you could only imagine.
The time, dedication & patience alone made me stop, throw the entire album away & start from scratch at least 4 times.
It took me 2 1/2 years to get to the point where I truly loved what I was creating & those that helped me in the crucial moments of completion know who they are & what it means to me to have gotten to the finish line.
Like everything else in my life, I had to fight all kinds of things behind the scenes… some I’m still fighting today to keep this album intact. You truly have no idea how tough it has been powering through the bullshit that comes along with this game.
But look, we’re here.
Another CLASSIC album to add to my personal selection of my greatest albums.
For me it has always been in order:
1. The Doctors Advocate
2. The Documentary
3. Jesus Piece
4. LAX
N now, I can honestly say that THE DOCUMENTARY 3 belongs at #3 for me in my own ranking.
This is me rapping at this level 22 years later.
Think about that.
A career, fueled by LOVE, HATE, drama, violence, family trials… lost loved ones, murdered friends… the joy of fatherhood.. loyal fans.. & life just plain ol’ fucking LIFE’n….
Fighting to stay alive in an industry that secretly hates you for being transparent & standing alone has been amazing to me.
For those of you starting your musical careers today… trust me when I say… this shit ain’t for the weak.
For the ones who’s been with me the entire journey… you know the love has & will always be appreciated.
For everyone, thank you.
From me, my team, my family & most importantly MY CHILDREN.
I needed support & yall showed up when I needed you the most.
Forever grateful,
