Waka Flocka and Desi Banks team up for ‘We Playin’ Spades’ podcast

The duo’s newest offering is all types of must-hear and must-see fun. The big reveal goes down September 11 but of course it’s all about getting hyped for the new venture.

Wondery today announced a new video podcast, We Playin’ Spades. The series brings viewers front and center each week for an ultimate game of spades with actor and comedian Desi Banks and rapper Waka Flocka Flame pitting their card-playing skills against a lineup of celebrity guest opponents. The podcast premieres September 11 exclusively on Wondery+, and will be available on Amazon Music, Wondery’s YouTube channel, and everywhere you get your podcasts starting September 18. Prime members can listen to We Playin’ Spades ad-free on Amazon Music.

Each week, hosts Desi Banks and Waka Flocka Flame will play the popular and strategic trick-taking card game of spades, and will be joined by a different celebrity guest, ensuring an exciting and diverse array of opponents and conversations. Playing spades elicits an authentic and free-flowing conversation where players share personal anecdotes and thoughts that viewers and listeners won’t be privy to outside of this room. It’s bold, it’s fresh and outright hilarious commentary that has not been rehearsed. The roster of guests includes renowned names such as actor and comedian Jay Pharoah, media mogul Nick Cannon, rapper and actress KaMillion, actor and comedian Lil Rel Howery, and many more.

As the cultural phenomenon of spades transcends generations and unites individuals within the Black community, the show is expected to resonate with audiences seeking both entertainment and authentic representation of Black culture.

Desi Banks, a talented comedian known for his hilarious portrayals of everyday experiences, commented on the upcoming podcast, “Spades to Black people is like kayaking to White people. Nobody teaches you how to do it. You just get thrown into it and eventually you figure it out. Once you learn the game, you get amnesia and forget that at one point, you didn’t know what the hell you were doing. It brings out a whole new level of competitiveness, but that’s truly what makes it such a good time. I’m excited to partner with Waka and chat with some amazing entertainers while playing spades.”

Waka Flocka Flame, celebrated rapper, also shared his thoughts on the upcoming series, We Playin’ Spades“Squaddd!! We ‘bout to dive deep into some Spades action, and listen, it's straight fire. Ain't no one play Spades like me and Desi and the guests are hungry to take the throne or witness the champs fall. Folks gonna be tuning in for the game, but they gonna stick around for all the craziness, good vibes, and deep conversations we sharing. Now, I ain't guaranteeing we gonna yard the guests every time, but Desi and me, we coming in with that sauce, and we expecting our guests to bring they A game too. You just gotta peep to just how fierce the competition gets when them stakes be high, and the conversations be deep… issa a wild ride, believe that!”

We Playin’ Spades is a Wondery production.
