Bizzy Crook & Leon Thomas: The duo team up for the heartfelt Could Be Worse collabo
You already know whenever Leon Thomas is cooking up - it’s fire. But how about adding the lyrical flexing of Bizzy Crook to the mix for their ‘Could Be Worse’ tune? Oh yes.
The song is repeat-worthy and comes through with rap bars plus an R&B vibe. Tap in.
Respected for his pen game and his hitmaking prowess, Bizzy Crook found a new songwriting groove when he teamed up with Leon Thomas. The prolific songwriting duo, who have connected for songs that have won Grammys, BMI Awards, and much more, unites once again for "Could Be Worse," Bizzy's soulful new single from the upcoming album Underdogs Win Eventually. Using a sample of Zapp's "Be Alright," famously used by 2Pac on his classic "Keep Ya Head Up," Bizzy chronicles his journey "through the dirt" to the top of his game, refusing to sweat the small indignities as he keeps his eye on the prize. Bizzy's plainspoken bars ("It's at least a ten piece when we be shopping/We had to turn it up, we had no options/When you see me tell me what you see/You see the wins, but what about the scars underneath?") fit seamlessly next to Leon's silky-smooth melodies, which refute naysayers' snide remarks with nonchalant flexes: "If they talk down on me it's nothing recent," he sings.
"Could Be Worse" is the latest result of one of the recent music industry's most successful creative partnerships. Bizzy Crook and Leon Thomas co-wrote every nearly every song on Leon's breakthrough album MUTT, including the multi-Platinum, Billboard Top 10 hit title track, and Grammy-nominated highlights like "Vibes Don't Lie" and "Yes It Is." Bizzy earned two awards at the 2026 Grammys, receiving a trophy for his contributions to MUTT, which won Best R&B Album, and "Vibes Don't Lie," which won Best Traditional R&B Performance. Most recently, Bizzy and Leon won a 2026 BMI Pop Award for their contribution to "Mutt." In addition to his work with Leon Thomas, Bizzy has contributed to hits by artists like Drake, Kehlani, GIVEON, Coco Jones, Wale, and many others.
Bizzy's new collab with Leon Thomas is a highlight from the upcoming Underdogs Win Eventually. A concept album that compares Bizzy's underdog spirit to that of a plucky college football team, Underdogs Win Eventually is a showcase of the full breadth of Bizzy's talent, with lyrics that reflect his hard-won wisdom and a suite of instrumentals designed to glisten in the Florida sunshine. The upcoming album is home to "Risky," a high-energy collaboration with Floridians Rick Ross and C Stunna, plus successful earlier singles like "What Do U Like?," a silky-smooth collaboration with his EZMNY CEO Ty Dolla $ign, which racked up over 1.6 million views, and "100%," a breezy, danceable soul-sampler created in collaboration with Leven Kali. Stay tuned for more information about Underdogs Win Eventually, releasing on June 19th via EZMNY Records.
After a lifetime of being counted out, Bizzy Crook plans to prove his doubters wrong once and for all with Underdogs Win Eventually. Stay tuned for many more announcements about the album in the coming weeks.
