KhakiKid: I am repeat mode’ing ‘Soul’ all St. Patty’s Day

Low-key? I am loving this ‘Soul’ audio gem courtesy of crooner KhakiKid. The song is pure audio flames but how about getting an unexpected visualizer, too? Tough.

It’s chill vibes and fun witty lines on this visual. Lose yourself to the audio and cinematic bliss.

Today March 17th, Irish alternative rapper and singer KhakiKid releases his new single, ‘Soul’, taken from his forthcoming five-track EP ‘Girl Bites Dog’, out April 17th. Produced by Louis Stanley Isaacs and featuring vocals from Bricknasty, ‘Soul’ blends soulful instrumentation with an alt-rap infusion, reflecting on the words left unsaid after an argument. Speaking on the track, KhakiKid explains: “It’s the conversation you have with yourself a week after the argument, in retrospect.” The single reveals a more vulnerable side to KhakiKid; its kick drums and melancholic piano production give the track an upbeat energy that contrasts with his laid-back spoken word delivery and chorus. KhakiKid shows that he is comfortable navigating sincerity and satire, and unafraid to push boundaries. His exploration of youth rebellion, relationships, and the unexpected emotions that accompany them sits at the heart of his music. Unfiltered and humorous, his writing captures the contradictions of modern young adulthood, transforming personal experiences into cultural commentary, offering listeners a candid and relatable perspective. The release follows recent single ‘Favela’, which received strong support from BBC Radio 1's future artists Sian Eleri and tastemaker publications including Clash and Notion.

Born and raised in Dublin, KhakiKid — real name Abdu — began writing raps at the age of 12, inspired by the raw storytelling of Eminem and 50 Cent, and the groundbreaking grime and rap music videos of Channel U. Over the years, he has crafted a sound entirely his own, offbeat, emotionally resonant, and infused with influences from Tyler, The Creator, Mac Miller, and Irish peers such as Bricknasty and Kojaque. Known for his inventive wordplay, and hands-on creative approach, KhakiKid not only writes and records his own material but also directs and edits his music videos. Themes of identity, belonging, and heritage play a central role in his work. Having grown up on a council estate in Dublin and spoken openly about living with ADHD and reconnecting with his Arab-Irish roots, KhakiKid brings a refreshing authenticity and emotional depth to his music. His live performances have become a hallmark of his artistry, energetic, heartfelt, and magnetic. Recent highlights include a sold-out headline show at Dublin’s iconic 3Olympia Theatre, performance on the Electric Arena Stage at Electric Picnic (12,000 capacity) and appearances at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, sharing the bill with Maverick Sabre, Aby Coulibaly, and Rejjie Snow amongst others. KhakiKid’s rise has been meteoric: he’s a Spotify RADAR: First Listen artist, he's amassed over 25 million streams, gained 100,000 new online followers in months, and received high-profile co-signs from Lola Young and Anderson Paak. Media acclaim has followed, with features in Wonderland, MTVUK, NME (100 Essential Artists) and Dazed, who hailed him as One to Watch for 2025. He has also been nominated in 2 of 5 categories at this year’s RTE Choice Music Prize, Breakthrough Artist and Song of the year for ‘Date Nite’ which he also performed on the Late Late Show.

‘Soul’ is the third single taken from his forthcoming project, recent releases 'Moved On' and 'Favelahave been building serious momentum ahead of the new EP, ‘Girl Bites Dog’. KhakiKid is certainly making his presence felt both in Ireland and the UK, he’ll be in London on St Patrick’s Day, performing at the Guinness Storehouse event.
