Elmiene & Fujii Kaze: It’s a spiritual and heartfelt vibe with the Comets + Gold music video

Need some uplifting? Look no further than what’s coming courtesy of crooners Elmiene and Fujii Kaze with their ‘Comets + Gold’ music video.

Spiritual. Hard-hitting. The right type of cinematic vibe to set your day right-right. Fully tap in.

British-Sudanese songwriter and vocalist Elmiene teams up with Japanese singer / songwriter Fujii Kaze on new single and video “Comets + Gold” - out now on Def Jam Recordings / Polydor. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

Elmiene and Fujii Kaze first connected when Kaze posted a cover of the ascendent British R&B star's track ‘Someday' on YouTube; then when Elmiene travelled to Japan and visited the native singer-songwriter. The pair spent days together writing and getting to know each other, out of which the fantastic ‘Comets + Gold’ emerged. The accompanying visual, directed by Patrick Linehan, was shot right after Kaze’s performance at Coachella earlier this year and showcases the pair trading verses and channeling the pure soul and heartfelt sentiment of the track.

Elmiene says “It was so easy working with Kaze for many reasons but to me, it was how special his understanding of how music moves through the chords and harmonies that really impressed me. He is incredible at adding the perfect colours to music that bring so much depth and emotion in a song. Our music galaxy has so many more stars through him.”

Kaze adds “When I first heard Elmiene’s songs, I immediately fell in love with them. He brings back the good old soul we need in music today. When we recorded the song, I felt like I was just floating in his vast universe. I’m so fortunate to become a comet in his music galaxy.”

Elmiene’s recently released debut album sounds for someone takes listeners on a deeply personal journey, tracing two decades of familial trials and triumphs that have profoundly shaped Elmiene’s personal worldviews and sense of self. The record also features appearances from GRAMMY Award–winning singer-songwriter Raphael Saadiq, with production across the project coming from an impressive lineup including Sampha, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, and GRAMMY Award–winning producers No I.D., Raphael Saadiq, and others, adding rich depth and texture to the record’s emotional landscape. He recently led his SOLD OUT sounds for someone headlining tour across North America  and is gearing up to kick off the European leg this August.

His growing list of milestones includes sets at Roots Picnic and British Summer Time Hyde Park, where he supported Stevie Wonder. His Tiny Desk Concert has surpassed one million views, and a standout moment on The Terrell Show further showcased his R&B depth with a rendition of I Don't Ever Want to See You Again. Recognized as an Artist to Watch by platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, MTV, NME, The Guardian, and BBC, Elmiene is poised to become an enduring presence in music through 2026 and beyond.
