G Herbo: It’s demon time with drill vibes in the Thug music video
Rap flexer G Herbo putting out fire tunes? You bet. It’s all eyes on the Chicago hip-hop star coming through with the ‘Thug’ music video.
It’s big flexing and pure energy on display. Fully tap into Herb’s newest cinematic drop.
G Herbo unveils the new video for the Bone Thugs-inspired single “Thug” today, continuing the momentum surrounding his reflection into the Lil Herb era. The hard-hitting record serves as the lead offering from the forthcoming Lil Herb: Lil Heroin Edition, available everywhere June 12th. “Thug” is available now on all streaming platforms. Produced by Chase Davis, the menacing single captures G Herbo at his rawest and most reflective. While growth, success, and maturity have shifted his perspective since his early days, “Thug” makes it clear that the foundation remains the same. Reflecting on both the realities of a decade ago and the life he navigates now, Herbo delivers the track with the same aggression, honesty, and unfiltered storytelling that first defined his artistry, emphasizing, “They don't know Lil Herb and Big Swerv still the same n****.” In the LVTRKevin-directed visual, Herbo is surrounded by luxury at every turn, from foreign whips to flawless diamonds and designer fashion, while his gritty presence reinforces that he’s still the same Lil Herb at heart.
Lil Herb finds G Herbo in his most personal terrain yet, led by “Went Legit.” The explosive single, recently named the #3 Song of the Year by COMPLEX, earned RIAA Platinum certification and became his first-ever Top 10 record on a Billboard radio chart, peaking at #1 on Urban Radio. The album debuted at #2 on Apple Music’s all-genre chart and #15 on the Billboard 200, reinforcing Lil Herb as an immersive, lived-in time capsule rooted in a defining era.
Early singles “Reason,” produced by Don Cannon, and “Whatever U Want,” featuring Jeremih, set the tone, balancing intensity with reflection. That same balance carries across the album, grounded in trusted collaborators including Southside, Chase Davis, OzOnTheTrack, and C-Sick. Features from Anderson. Paak on “Thank Me” and Wyclef Jean on “Emergency” add depth, bridging perspective and generations. An extended version followed shortly after the release, adding “This N That,” “Hold My Hand God,” and “No Bap,” further expanding the project’s autobiographical arc and offering a deeper look into Herbo’s evolution. Now, the next chapter arrives in a major way with Lil Herb: Lil Heroin Edition coming June 12th.
ABOUT G HERBO:
“It's like finding your roots, getting in touch with your old self and that hunger you had when you first started, the energy that made the world fall in love with Lil Herb,” says G Herbo of his new project, Lil Herb. Named after the moniker he broke through with 15 years ago, it’s both an album and a time machine. After helping invent and globalize Chicago drill, launching the Swervin Through Stressnonprofit, and scoring his biggest hit, “Went Legit” off his 2024 mixtape Greatest Rapper Alive(14M direct-to-fan streams), Herbo is now reaching back and looking forward. He recorded 100 songs over a year, revisited old favorites, and returned to Chicago studios with his day-ones. The result blends soulful hip hop, menacing drill, and a handful of exciting guest features that elevate the project’s full-circle feel. “I'm at the finish line… I'm in full control of my destiny now. I've finished the marathon I started when I was 16, when I was Lil Herb.”
