mgk & Wiz Khalifa: The hip-hop heavyweights channel bromance flicks in their ‘girl next door’ music video

Retro vibes? Awesome feels. It’s all about seeing rap artists mgk and Wiz Khalifa coming through with a vintage-feeling and modern-flexing ‘girl next door’ music video.

Rocking out and having fun with the bromance fun? You bet. Fully tap in.

Today, summer comes early as multi-platinum-selling, GRAMMY®-nominated recording artists mgk and GRAMMY and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa reunite to drop their instantly infectious joint single “girl next door.” With dreamy melodies and a driving beat, the new song evokes warm nights and shared vibes — perfect timing as Wiz gets ready to join mgk on the second North American leg of his lost americana tour, which picks back up on Friday.

Produced by close mgk collaborators SlimXXBazeXX, and No Love For The Middle Child“girl next door” samples indie electronic duo Sweet Trip and fuses hazy dream-pop with dance-floor synths and propulsive drums. mgk and Wiz once again show off their dynamism as performers, sliding between high-energy bars and melodic moments.

It’s the duo’s first song together since their 2013 fan-favorite collab Mind of a Stoner and they don’t miss a beat, tapping right back into an effortless creative chemistry. That kindred spirit carries over into the “girl next door” video, directed by mgk’s longtime videographer Sam Cahill alongside Gianni Paolo, known for his roles in Power and Power Book II: Ghost, and featuring Lindsey FishmanNaomi Baker, and Trevor Wallace.

The breezy new song follows hot on the heels of an mgk anthem with a very different energy: last month’s FIX UR FACE featuring Fred Durst, a headline-making collision of ’90s nü-metal and modern genre-bending alternative that scored mgk his first ever No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songschart and landed No. 1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. The explosive track’s visual was shot across Berlin, Dublin, London, Prague, Munich, Nashville, and Los Angeles during the greater lost americana tour, capturing a series of rowdy, last-minute fan meet-ups that underscore mgk’s exhilarating live presence.

Released last year, lost americana became mgk’s third consecutive No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. In late November, he teamed up with Jonas Brothers, for a fizzy remix of his inescapable hit cliché.” An enduring cornerstone of lost americana, that song inspired an iconic music video also directed by Cahill with choreography by Sean Bankhead (Usher, Tate McRae), as well as the piano-powered cliché (sad version).”

2026 has been already been big year for Wiz, kicking off in January when he released his album, Khaotic. Later that month, Wiz starred in the film Moses the Black and also served as the executive producer for the movie’s original soundtrack. At the end of February, Wiz surprised fans with the drop of his Girls Love Horses album. Most recently in April, Wiz embarked on The Macrodose Tour, a special 4/20 celebration tour. This limited run hit four select stops, culminating at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
