OMB Peezy & Trap Dickey: It’s a tough flip on TLC’s classic in the WHAT SHE WANTS music video

You have to admit - even in 2026 the ‘No Scrubs’ sample here is beyond tough. So how about going the extra mile with OMB Peezy and Trap Dickey showing out with their ‘What She Wants’ music video?

The single is tough but this cinematic drop? Toughness. Fully tap in.

Since emerging onto the rap scene as a teenaged firebrand, OMB Peezy has built a reputation for using his fast-paced flows to elucidate his raw emotions. The versatile rapper keeps his hot streak going on the road to his upcoming album Save Yourself, releasing "What She Wants," his searing new single. Featuring a sample of TLC's classic "No Scrubs," tastefully flipped by Platinum-selling producer Chopsquad DJ, the song is a collaboration with South Carolina-born TDE rapper Trap Dickey. Pitching up the iconic chorus of the original song into chipmunk register and re-harmonizing with a sumptuous bass line and dramatic piano chords, "What She Wants" finds Peezy and Dickey demonstrating why they're the kind of bosses who baddies want to be with: "If yo b*tch don't want you bossed up, you gotta go find someone harder," spits Peezy. In the video, Peezy and Dickey clean up nice, hosting a crew of models at their mansion for some poolside festivities.

"What She Wants" is the latest step on the road to Save Yourself, OMB Peezy's upcoming album. His first full-length to be released since partnering his Overkill Records with Sparta Distribution, upcoming album showcases a veteran's perspective on the rap game, incorporating lessons learned as he's grown to become a respected presence in his native south and his adopted home of Northern California. Last month, Peezy released the album's first single, "Save Your Life," which interpolated The Fray's Diamond-selling "How To Save A Life." The song is a showcase of the artist's expressive vocals, with lyrics that gain power from his soulful drawl and raw nerve emotion. Peezy takes off over softly plunked piano chords, his rapidfire flows providing the percussion on the drumless track. Stay tuned for many more announcements about Save Yourself, due to release in the coming weeks.

Repping both the West and Gulf Coasts, OMB Peezy has been one of the most unique voices in rap since emerging in 2017, mixing his Southern drawl and instinctive melodics with NorCal flows and slang. The 28-year-old artist has released ten solo and collaborative albums, including 2021's Too Deep For Tears, home to the remix to his GOLD single "Big Homie," and most recently, Drifting Away, which dropped earlier this year. Peezy got an unexpected boost in late 2024 when his 2017, Drum Dummie-produced breakout hit "Lay Down" went viral on TikTok, generating over 150k video creations and inspiring a dance popular with the youngest generation. The revived success of "Lay Down" inspired a new remix, featuring GloRilla in late 2024. In 2025, Peezy dropped Diary of a Crashout, and its Deluxe, bringing collaborations with YFN Lucci, Anycia, Kocky Ka, Vory, and more. Most recently, Peezy kept the streets hot with BETTER AND BETTER, a motivational 13-track mixtape.

With Save Yourself on the way, Peezy looks to prove that he remains one of the sharpest and most emotionally honest rappers from any corner of the country..

The Background:

OMB Peezy is a self-made artist whose music reflects the realities of an upbringing spent between Mobile, Alabama, and Sacramento, California. Although he's evolved into a father and entrepreneur, OMB Peezy has not lost sight of the path that brought him here. With over a billion streams across platforms and more than 100 million YouTube views, the artist has built a catalog that includes major collaborations with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, GloRilla, G-Eazy, and the late King Von. After taking the industry by storm with the smash hit "Lay It Down" nearly a decade ago, Peezy followed with 2019's gold-certified "Big Homie," which surpassed 100 million streams. After a breakthrough era with E-40's Sick Wid It Records as well as 300 Entertainment, he launched his own Overkill label, where his music can be its rawest and most unadulterated. OMB Peezy has a message, and his melodic lyrics are informed by experience. "I've been in a season of change for like the last year and a half now," OMB Peezy admits. "Because I'm tired of everybody just assuming that I'm a certain type of person. I had to change my environment and change how people look at me.”

Now, OMB Peezy prepares to release his most authentic and vulnerable album to date, Save Yourself. The project finds the 29-year-old embracing a new chapter, determined to redefine how he's perceived while retaining the drive that has sustained his career. Built around the idea that lasting growth begins with putting yourself first, Save Yourself reflects a season of change, self-examination, and redemption. Long told he was destined for greatness, OMB Peezy now sees the album as an opportunity to transform his wisdom through trials and tribulations into something that can help others. After coming up in Mobile's Orange Grove projects and navigating Sacramento's streets, he has built a life centered on family, growth, and a newfound sense of possibility. Save Yourself is a testament to the journey of deliverance.
