Rome Streetz & Westside Gunn: The duo team up for a PlayStation 2-inspired Marathon Or Race music video

Vintage vibes ahead of a Throwback Thursday? I am here for it. It’s all eyes on Rome Streetz teaming up with Griselda head honcho Westside Gunn for their animated ‘Marathon Or Race’ music video.

Inspired by signature PlayStation 2 graphics - notably Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - it’s all eyes on this salute to a classic. Tap in.

Welcome to the Mass Appeal/GXFR Metaverse… Rome Streetz has released the official video for "Marathon Or Race," featuring longtime collaborator Westside Gunn.   The video plays as a reimagined GTA 6 world, where Rome and Westside Gunn become playable avatars.

“Marathon Or Race” trades the traditional music-video backdrop for something bigger: a beta-mode walkthrough of an ulterior Mass Appeal/GXFR universe, dropping viewers into a demo world similar to the chaos that exists with games such as Grand Theft Auto.

The video arrives as the clearest signal yet that Rome Streetz's long-awaited breakout moment has arrived. Since the release of Sock It 2 My Pocket, Rome has trended on social media on two separate occasions — another sign that one of the cultures most respected lyricists has broken through.

Sock It 2 My Pocket is one of 2026's most acclaimed hip-hop releases, and Rome Streetz's first solo album under Mass Appeal Records; and one of the most fully-realized projects of his career. The 15-track album pairs Rome with an all-star run of features — Styles P, Lloyd Banks, Westside Gunn, IDK, and OX OMNI — over production from The Alchemist, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, Havoc, Conductor Williams and more.

Sock It 2 My Pocket is now available on all streaming platforms via Mass Appeal.
