K-Trap and Headie One run it back with ‘Mystery Box’

It’s more than just an impressive single - how about the duo coming through with their ‘Mystery Box’ music video, too? Oh yes.

UK rap heavyweights K-Trap and Headie One reunite on their new single “Mystery Box”,a commanding release that reignites the undeniable chemistry behind their most celebrated collaborations. Produced by Louis Aura(Skepta, Potter Payper, Giggs), the track blends razor-sharp lyricism with an atmospheric, menacing sound rooted firmly in their combined sonic identity. The accompanying visual takes inspiration from iconic titles like Call of Duty, transforming a theatre in the capital into the scene for a potential apocalypse. Packed with tension and red-drenched imagery, the video amplifies the record’s chilling energy. K-Trap and Headie One are no strangers to shared success. Their collaborative project Strength to Strength earned a BRIT Award nominationand reached No. 4 on the Official Albums Chart. The pair have also continued to prove chart power with Park Chinois, which peaked at No. 39, and Triple Threat, which reached No. 31 — both securing Top 40 placements. K-Trap has had a busy start to the year. Following his recent UK–US link-up with G Herbo, he continues his relentless run with singles in quick succession, signalling yet another major chapter in his ever-evolving career. Meanwhile, in an organic TikTok resurgence, his legendary 2016 track “David Blaine” has started trending a decade after its release, once more proving his cultural relevance and lasting impact across generations.

Raised in Gipsy Hill, K-Trap emerged onto the UK music scene with an air of mystery, quickly distinguishing himself as one of the genre’s most compelling voices. Concealed behind his now-iconic mask until 2019, his anonymity only intensified the impact of his music, raw, visceral, and deeply rooted in his South London upbringing. Early releases such as Last Whip, No Hook, and No Convo, featured on his breakout 2017 mixtapeThe Last Whip, captured unfiltered perspectives from the streets, delivered through his signature tone and versatile flow. As his artistry developed, projects like Street Side Effects, Joints, and The Last Whip 2showcased a broader musical scope, allowing him to move beyond the confines of drill and explore new sonic territories. His career is marked by significant milestones, including multiple MOBO Award wins, a BRIT Award nomination, and a Platinum-certified single with 2021’s Warm. With two UK Top 10 projects, Smile? and Strength to Strength, his collaborative project with Headie One, K-Trap has solidified his position at the forefront of British rap. His trajectory has also seen standout cultural moments, from performing Warm as the entrance music for Anthony Joshua in front of 20,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena, to being brought out by Drake at Wireless Festival 2025, further cementing his status as a defining voice in UK music.

With a reputation built on reinventing drill and shaping UK rap’s global presence, Headie One continues operating in a league of his own. Across his career, Headie One has amassed over 1.5 billion streams, earned five UK Top 10 singles and three UK Top 10 albums, and secured multiple platinum and gold certifications, cementing his status as one of the biggest UK rappers of all time. A truly global collaborator, his catalogue includes hits with Drake, Future, Dave, Stormzy, AJ Tracey, Fred again.., Ed Sheeran, Skepta and more. His impact has been recognised with multiple BRIT Award nominations, a MOBO Award win, and a prestigious Mercury Prize nomination, marking him out as one of the most decorated and influential artists in British rap history. An enthusiastic collaborator, Headie’s 2024 album The Last One featured a strong contingent of British heavyweights including Stormzy, D-Block Europe, Sampha and Potter Payper - American R&B star Fridayy, and Nigerian artists Bnxn, Odumudoblxck and Tay Iwar. The record also featured global superstar producer Skrillex on ‘Make A W’ along with AJ Tracey and BEAM. It’s a lineup that reflects Headie’s ambitions to both honour the streets where he made his name and also address an audience across the world.

This evolution continues tenfold in this forthcoming chapter as K-Trap pushes his sound even further into new territories.
