The energy and excitement is through the roof on the song alone but adding in the tropics parrots element in the studio setting, too? Epic. Geek out.
Poised for a banner year, GRAMMY® Award-nominated Singer/Songwriter/Producer Leven Kali kickstarts his next creative era with new single entitled “BREATHE!” out now via Def Jam Recordings. This funky dancefloor-ready banger notably heralds the arrival of his anxiously awaited new album, LK99, coming this Spring.
Listen to “BREATHE!” HERE.
The track moves with Leven’s breath, rising and falling over a jolting bass line. Funky electric guitar adds bounce and energy as the song builds toward an unshakable refrain: “You’re doing good, just breathe… Nothing left to prove, you got me.” Blending psychedelic funk, R&B, and dance music, it pushes Leven into bold new creative territory.
It notably follows last year’s acclaimed LK99: The Prelude EP. Powered by fan favorites such as “Sleepwalking” and “Are U Still,” the latter has gathered millions of streams to date in addition to reeling in critical praise from the likes of Rated R&B, Shatter The Standards, and more. Clash Magazine proclaimed, “The six-track collection is a kaleidoscopic jaunt through funk, RnB, rock and jazz – simultaneously referential but future-facing.” EARMILK raved, “A smoky, funkadelic-loving energy moulds beautifully with his lyrical search for solidarity in an alienated society, while echo-laden production gives his funky, neo-psychedelic sound a more potent presence.” Listen HERE.
Leven Kali stands out as a multi-GRAMMY®-nominee for his work as a producer and writer on Beyoncé’s Renaissance and COWBOY CARTER. He served as a co-writer on “Alien Superstar,” “Plastic Off the Sofa,” “Virgo’s Groove,” and “Summer Renaissance”, which took home a GRAMMY® for “Best Dance/Electronic Album.”
