Rushing Beat X: Here’s everything you need to know about the must-play Return of the Brawl Brothers video game

It’s no secret - I love to do takeovers with amazing brands and franchises - so how about doing a full-fledged Tuesday flex with Rushing Beat X’s Return of Brawl Brothers? An absolute major salute to Overload PR for coming through with a PlayStation 5 review code - an absolute must-play beat ‘em up - but what exactly is it, you ask, Attackers? Got you.

Here’s everything you Attackers gotta know about Rushing Beat X’s Return of Brawl Brothers

Okay - so I am all about vintage titles - whether it’s loading up the Nintendo Switch Online on my Nintendo Switch 2 to game out on the Super NES titles or even enjoying 4K quality on throwback titles on the PlayStation 5 Pro - but getting deep into this Rushing Beat X new drop? Holy Return of Brawl Bros smokes.

From the instance the title loads up - you’re hooked. Whether you are an 80’s - or older/younger - baby and remember the Super Nintendo days and this epic franchise - which if you don’t - got you here:

… and then realizing this very familiar-looking franchise is back in action in a very big way… once again, GOT YOU:

… the bottom line is if you’re into the concept of a beat ‘em up mash ‘em and smash ‘em video game - this is you all day, Attacker.

While I probably played the original way back a few decades ago - it’s clear this new drop is welcoming to vintage gamers and overnight Attackers. The quality is crispy while giving you those nostalgic 90’s feels and one of my favorite things about loading up this title on the PlayStation 5 is getting all of the backstory - heads up - if you’re like me and can’t contain yourself, you can skip the tons of backstory letting you know about what’s happening, the gaming controls and everything else if you want to get straight into whooping digital ass, ass, ass.

But if you’re reading this much - how about getting the backstory now and so when you load this up you can immediately get into the action?

Neo-Sisco State. There were once two incidents. The "Joecal Incident," where the virus "Zeekus," which awakens physical abilities, spread. And the "Cyber Clone Incident," where military clones were created through genetic manipulation. Thanks to the efforts of Rick Norton and Douglas Bild of the Neo-Sisco State Police, the incidents were thought to have been suppressed... A year has passed since then, and now, once again, a battle is about to begin over "Zeekus" and "Cyber Clones." Will their path be one of carnage, or...?

Geeking out? Want to know some ways you can whoop an op into shape? Got you.

Punch, throw, and blast them away! Create your own combo with a variety of attacks! Chain attacks, launch enemies into the air with an uppercut, counter enemy strikes, attack with weapons, and follow up with pursuit attacks—there are countless ways to attack. By mashing the attack button, you can unleash a combo of consecutive strikes, but you can also mix it up with different attacks to branch into new combos. Change your attack style depending on the situation and discover your own unique combos! You can cancel into a jump or dash after landing a hit. Keep the pressure on and relentlessly pummel your enemies!

Auto-combo feature makes combos easy for anyone! When an attack hits, simply hold down the attack button, and you'll automatically unleash a combo. During the combo, inputting up, down, left, or right will change the combo automatically! You can trigger auto-combos at any time, and switch to your preferred attack in the middle. Use auto-combos as your foundation and try out various attacks!

Rage is power! Blast away your enemies! As you take hits or land attacks, your "Rage Gauge" will fill up! When the "Rage Gauge" reaches a certain level, you can unleash "Beat Blow," blasting away all nearby enemies at once! When the "Rage Gauge" is maxed out, you'll enter "Rage Burst" mode. Your attack power increases, and your attacks change as well. While in "Rage Burst" mode, each character can unleash their unique "Beat Rush." Unleash your fists of fury on your enemies!

All sorts of items can be weapons!? Throughout the stages, various weapons will be scattered around. There are two types of weapons: - "Item Weapons," which can be stocked and incorporated into combos. - "Equipped Weapons," which are always on hand, offering a wide attack range and high power. Weapon attacks can even hit through an enemy's guard. For enemies with strong defenses, break through with weapon attacks!

You can’t fight on an empty stomach! Gather food to prepare for battles with powerful enemies! Throughout the stages, you’ll find various "food" items that restore your health. Once picked up, "food" can be stocked and eaten at any time. During the stage, or at the food truck that appears mid-stage or at the end, you can combine food items to create even more potent health recovery items! Some food might even transform into powerful weapons...!?

Feeling the vibes yet? Wondering what system you’re thinking about gaming on? Well - we all have our preferences but having to choose between requesting a Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 review code opportunity was super nerve-racking - do I flashback to the 90’s when I gamed on my Super Nintendo or embrace the power of the PlayStation 5 Pro? Decisions, decisions.

Considering all platforms have the game priced at around $20 or less - you could actually purchase the game for each console at a combined price still less than a regular AAA release.

There’s plenty more to dish on with this title but if there’s one plea to make - it’s to consider co-op gameplay. Having your gang-gang load up and gaming with you on this new drop? An absolute must consider.

Now - with the plea out of the way - how about watching other gamers geeking out over this drop? Say less.

And if you’re looking for pure completion goals - maybe a little 3-hour walkthrough for the PlayStation 5 Attackers? Oh yes.

It’s gaming goals on the regular but this stands out more than anything. Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
